Easton Fothergill, already a college fishing champion, won the 2024 St. Croix Bassmaster Open bass fishing tournament at Lake Eufaula with a total of 52 pounds, 8 ounces, primarily using a Wacky Rig / Neko rig with a PB&J colored Strike King Finesse Worm. He had a strong performance across all three days, securing the win with a big catch on the final day. His victory earned him $44,155 and a spot in the 2025 Bassmaster Classic.
Easton also discusses his life-threatening brain abscess that could have been fatal, but almost certainly took him out of collegiate fishing competition. Instead he came back strong and overcame all the odds, beating adversity, medical challenges and a strong field of college anglers. |

These two hammers hail from Grand Rapids, MN, and have earned themselves quite a reputation at a young age. Now going into their senior year at Montevallo, these two have a bright future in our sport. These two earned their National ranks in the Bassmaster College Series, but it all started at the high school level with the Grands Rapids HS fishing team. Locally today, Easton and his dad fish the MNBN Team Trail, recently winning the Leech Lake event. Nick works with Wired2Fish as a videographer.
